WALL E

Have you heard about the latest pixar movie?

Wall E

It’s going to be about a robot. Pretty excellent. It kind of reminds me of the robot from Short Circuit (people will kill me for not knowing his name… something about number 5?). I’m interested to see what the story is behind the character. I feel like Pixar is always pretty good about coming up with new stories.

Anyway, the film is scheduled for a summer 2008 release date.

We’re in Business!

About two years ago I was on a road trip from the lovely Napa Valley back to the city of San Francisco. I was with my friends Anja and Mikey just crusin along, listening to tunes provided by Anja’s buddy Andrew Thompson, and there was this one song that caught my attention. It was about his bad encounters with robots and that if you’re NOT a robot, then you are welcome to be his friend.

I asked Anja for a copy of the song, and as people do, she forgot. HOWEVER, she did recently hook me up with the video for it and here it is for all you to enjoy:

The Star Wars Medley

I feel like ever since I watched Empire Strikes Back on Sunday I’ve been bombarded with Star Wars related stories so I figured I might as well collect them for a show and tell.

Star Wars + Robot Chicken = Robot Wars? Star Chicken?
Surely anyone who loves Star Wars and/or Robot Chicken has heard of the Lucas/Green/Senreich collaboration for the Adult Swim stop motion animation series, Robot Chicken. For those not yet “in the loop,” Seth Green and Matthew Senreich of Robot Chicken approached Lucas and Co. about making a special Star Wars episode of Robot Chicken. I know the Chicken has done some Star Wars themed sketches in the past but this one will be a full episode and fully endorsed by Lucasfilm.

Mermaids love ‘Pirates’ too.

ship concept art Yes, definitely. Mermaids are very fond of pirates, although I don’t think those scallywags like mermaids too much. Everytime I hear a pirate talk about a mermaid it’s usually something along the lines of “Them evil fish women lured old John Jacobjingleheimerschmidt overboard and nobody heared from him since, yar!”

I’ll have you know, though, that this mermaid loves pirates, and their booties. In fact, this mermaid is anxiously awaiting the release of the Pirates of the Carribbean movie. The official website for the movie features some of the concept art and designs for the movie, that is, if you can find them. You’ve heard of Davey Jones’ locker, yes? Well this, my land lovers, is Davey Jones. Isn’t he dreamy? On the site you’ll also find a lot of other illustrations and art that I deem “imaginatively responsible” meaning they did good.

If Tim Burton’s Vincent was a robot…

RustBoyHe would look like RustBoy, and I would love him just as much.

One night while laying on the operating table RustBoy is struck by lightning and comes to life. Um, there is a boat and a dream sequence at some point. Frankly, that’s really all we know of the story because it is still a work in progress. Regardless, from what I’ve seen (and read) about the movie, I’m quite excited.

You can pick up your own RustBoy at a little webstore called Android 8.
