PSA!

Well maybe it’s only a public service announcement if you consider this blog a public service. I really don’t think any0ne does, so really, it’s just a PA.

I have a confession to make.

I started this blog because I was (and still am) working at an internet company where everyday I would look at sites like The Fabulist and NotCot and think, “Wow, that sure is cool. I want to make a list of cool stuff too… maybe then people will like me.” I also wanted to be a finder of cool things so I decided to make THIS!

So we kind of failed at this initial idea. First of all, I don’t think the robot and I count as “a lot of people” (two is more like a couple of people, right?). Although, I must admit, sometimes we do find cool things on the internet.  Secondly, while the intention of this site was to do something cool, it wasn’t really planned out all that well and I guess we (I) sort of lack the effort to make this site reach it’s maximum cool potential.

…now what?

Well, it means that instead of throwing this site away like last season’s jeans, I’m going to repurpose it. Sure, that’s a word. In the beginning I had the domain and tried to relate something to it but, you know, a name isn’t really all that important. This doesn’t have to strictly be about robots, although that would be cool, and I’m sure I could breathe life back into this little project.

So just sit back while I try some new stuff. OK, I feel good about this, don’t you?

WALL E

Have you heard about the latest pixar movie?

Wall E

It’s going to be about a robot. Pretty excellent. It kind of reminds me of the robot from Short Circuit (people will kill me for not knowing his name… something about number 5?). I’m interested to see what the story is behind the character. I feel like Pixar is always pretty good about coming up with new stories.

Anyway, the film is scheduled for a summer 2008 release date.

See trailer here .

Why was I programmed to feel love?

Roboco!

Roboco

I like them so much. I’m not even really sure why, except that the commercials are also adorable. It’s the new Tamagotchi, but I was never really a fan of those.

Perhaps I am just lonely. Give me a friend?

We’re in Business!

About two years ago I was on a road trip from the lovely Napa Valley back to the city of San Francisco. I was with my friends Anja and Mikey just crusin along, listening to tunes provided by Anja’s buddy Andrew Thompson, and there was this one song that caught my attention. It was about his bad encounters with robots and that if you’re NOT a robot, then you are welcome to be his friend.

I asked Anja for a copy of the song, and as people do, she forgot. HOWEVER, she did recently hook me up with the video for it and here it is for all you to enjoy:
